Capitol Hill Courtyard

A cohesive, intimate and nuanced garden courtyard.

This townhouse backs into a well traveled Capitol Hill intersection. The garden was private, but overcrowded with large evergreen shrubs and an suffering old cherry tree was planted in the middle of the only patio area creating a dismal, dark yard. The homeowner had removed many of the over-grown plantings, but needed help with a cohesive vision that would also include the front entry. We removed the cherry and filled in the patio with matching pavers and then re-created a more intimate, nuanced garden using a large glazed pot as a fountain/bubbler. The front entry was made elegant with a oversized container and a sidewalk garden with peonies among low white-flowering evergreens.
